IBG MONTHLY TELECONFERENCE SERIES WEIGHS IN ON BIOMETRIC HEADLINES MICROSOFT AND IBM DRIVING FINGERPRINTS FOR PC ACCESS, REVISITING US-VISIT, AND MORE
Greetings,
I'd like to extend to you an invitation to participate in International Biometric Group's monthly teleconference series on Thursday, October 14 at 1:00 pm ET (10:00 am PT).
In these teleconferences, IBG will address questions such as:
-Will computer users embrace new fingerprint login offerings from Microsoft and IBM?
-Why are Cat Stevens' touring days in the U.S. truly over?
-What landed biometrics in the hospitals in the U.K.?
This month's teleconference series features three topics. Participants can select from any of the following three tracks, which will be broadcast live in 30-minute intervals:
BIOMETRICS SIGNING ON TO COMPUTERS (1:00 PM ET)
It was not long after Microsoft announced its biometric PC accessory product line that IBM disclosed its new biometric ThinkPad model. Now that computer industry giants such as Microsoft and IBM have
publicly embraced biometrics, how will their product offerings ultimately affect the biometrics industry? Tune in to learn about the background and growth trends of biometrics in PC security applications as well as the implications of Microsoft and IBM's new product announcements.
US-VISIT, REVISITED (1:30 PM ET)
On Sept. 30th, visitors to the U.S. from Visa Waiver Program countries started undergoing US-VISIT program procedures of fingerprinting and facial scanning. This milestone was met in the midst of increasing public scrutiny as a result of high-profile incidents involving the identification systems and databases used by the US-VISIT program. This teleconference will provide updates and insight into the future direction of the US-VISIT program in conjunction with the pending issuance of biometric passports
internationally next year.
PULSE ON BIOMETRICS IN HEALTHCARE (2:00 PM ET)
The U.K. Home Secretary, David Blunkett, announced the expansion of the already controversial U.K. national biometric ID card pilot to include the implementation of biometrics in U.K. hospitals. Hear an
overview of the use of biometrics in healthcare as it illuminates the issues surrounding this latest biometric news item from the U.K.
There is no fee to participate in IBG's teleconference series.
