Once again, it's being said that those 27 countries that are supposed to be ready for biometric passports won't make their October deadline.
Announcements all the way from last October have been up and down with what they thought would happen. Most of the time they said it was too soon, but sometimes there was promise of at least a majority of the countries making the deadline.
But now that October is fast approaching, it is easier to make an educated guess, and that guess is that no one will.
The request is that the deadline be extended to December 2006.
